Corey Brown’s Sydney autumn carnival is over after the top jockey had his appeal against a careless riding suspension dismissed on Friday.
Brown had lodged an appeal against his suspension for interference aboard Rain Affair in the Group One TJ Smith Stakes, in an attempt to keep his Sydney Carnival hopes alive.
The suspension rules Brown out until May 10 which means he will miss Sydney Cup day on Saturday week when he was due to ride favourite Permit in the Sydney Cup and Rain Affair in the All Aged Stakes.
Brown’s suspension from the TJ Smith Stakes last Saturday came on top of a six-meeting ban he incurred a day earlier at Canterbury which had already ruled him out of Saturday’s Doncaster Mile meeting.
